GILBARCO RV042 ROUTER:
END-OF-LIFE

VERIFONE EZR:
END-OF-LIFE

OUTDOOR EMV LIABILITY SHIFT: APRIL 2021

Why go with a managed network service provider (MNSP)?

  • Gilbarco no longer supports the RV042 router and requires replacing it with the Secure Zone Router (SZR), provided by Acumera.
  • Additionally, Gilbarco recommends upgrading the Secure Zone Router (SZR) to a full MNSP solution for high-speed connectivity, secure remote access and a perimeter firewall.
  • As of October 1, 2021, Verifone sunsetted the Enhanced Zone Router (EZR) and requires replacing it with an edge device from an approved MNSP.
  • At this time Verifone will also require a secure connection from Verifone to a site through services provided by an MNSP.
  • An MNSP manages and secures your complex network and helps you simplify and maintain PCI compliance.
  • MNSP services are important to have in place prior to moving to outdoor EMV.

What other services are available through an MNSP?

What should I look for in an MNSP?

  • Is the MNSP a Gilbarco or Verifone certified provider?
  • Are they fully PCI compliant and able to provide an Attestation of Compliance (AoC)?
  • Are they listed on the Visa and Mastercard Global Registries of PCI compliant service providers?
  • Do they provide a flexible solution that will grow with future technology needs?
  • Refer to the “Choosing an MNSP and Preparing for Outdoor EMV” infographic for a full list of what to look for in an MNSP.

What are the consequences of not upgrading to an MNSP and preparing for outdoor EMV?

  • As of  April 2021, if you aren't EMV ready, you will now be fully responsible for all chargebacks from fraudulent transactions — including both counterfeit and lost and stolen fraud.
  • Your site is more likely to be attacked than others with outdoor EMV terminals.
  • Attacks will hurt your brand image and reputation with customers, who will go to other stores they trust.
  • Gilbarco and Verifone help desks won’t be able to remotely access your POS, and remote software updates won’t be possible.
  • You could miss out on major-oil-brand incentives or savings.
  • You could incur non-compliance fees from major oil brands.

What's the difference between a POS firewall and a complete MNSP solution?

  • A POS firewall segments and protects your payment card environment from the rest of your network.
  • By upgrading to a perimeter firewall with an MNSP, you protect your entire network, and with Acumera’s solution, gain the visibility to monitor and troubleshoot all connected IoT devices and applications.
